Daily Red FAQ

What is Daily Red?

Daily Red is a free daily Pokémon battle game. Every day, every player gets the same random team of six level 100 Pokémon and one official battle against Red at the top of Mt. Silver.

Is Daily Red like Wordle?

In rhythm, yes: one puzzle a day, the same for everyone, a streak to protect and a spoiler-free grid to share. It is not a guessing game, though. Each day's puzzle is a six-on-six Pokémon battle.

When does the next Daily Red battle unlock?

At midnight in your own time zone. The countdown at the top of the page shows how long is left.

What is Red's team?

Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, all at level 100. His team is the same every day, and he always leads with Pikachu.

Can I play more than once a day?

Your official battle counts once a day. After that, practice runs are unlimited and never affect your streak.

Is Daily Red free? Do I need an account?

It's free and needs no account. Your wins and streaks are saved in your browser, so they stay on this device.

Is this the Daily Red project from GitHub?

No. The original Daily Red, created by amoi.builds, is an open-source fan project that you build and run on your own computer, playing the real FireRed game in an emulator. This site is an independent version inspired by it. There is nothing to install, and it uses its own battle engine, so teams and battles may differ from the original.

Which rules does Daily Red use?

Generation 3 rules, the ones from Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen, on Pokémon Showdown's battle simulator. Abilities and held items work as they did in Gen 3. Gengar's Levitate makes it immune to Ground moves, Lightning Rod does not block Electric moves in single battles, and whether a move is physical or special depends on its type, so Ghost and Poison moves are physical.

Is Daily Red an official Pokémon game?

No. It's an unofficial fan project and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. or The Pokémon Company.
